Special Moves are attacks and maneuvers that are as unique to a hero as their Quirk. They form a part of the hero's identity, and are a way that a hero specially utilizes their Quirk in a way that makes it into more than the sum of its parts. At the cost of additional Technique Points, a character is able to use a Special Move to further augment and improve their stats, attacks, and maneuvers. Each Special Move must be registered in a unique Special Move topic, similar to a character update topic, and approved by a staff member before it can be used. When it is approved it will also be given a word-count by the approving staff-member (generally an amount between 50 and 500 words). The technique must be trained and learned in a post that has at least that many words. Then, when that topic is claimed upon its completion, that Special Move is added to your arsenal, and can be used at any time. You cannot, however, train a technique in the middle of combat, unless all participants in that topic agree to it.

Generally, a Special Move confers some kind of mechanical benefit beyond just that of the default use of the Quirk. In this respect, they are similar to temporary-levels of your Quirk. A Special Move might give additional Power or Speed, or inflict additional amounts of Wounds, et cetera.
